ABOUT OLD FORGE Our rectangular pizza is considered by many to be the best anywhere and is often referred to Old Forge Style Pizza in other areas throughout the state and country. We also boast of our fine Italian restaurants which offer a wide variety of traditional menu items as well as a full menu of Italian specialty dishes. Weekends in Old Forge bring hungry visitors from the surrounding area to our many restaurants. Friday and Saturday evenings in particular are extremely busy times with bumper-to-bumper traffic during the traditional dining hours.

OFPD ASSISTS IN DISASTER On November 4, 2006 the Old Forge Police Department participated in a disaster drill at the Lackawanna County Stadium. The OFPD assisted Moosic PD with site security and target hardening during the drill. Thanks to Moosic PD the drill on the law enforcement side of the event went excellent.

OFPD K-9 UNIT The Old Forge Police Department operates a full time K-9 unit which is run by Officer Jason Dubernas. He handles K-9 Enzo. The unit was started in 2003 with donations from local residents and businesses. Enzo is full bread German Shepard who was purchased from Milnerhaus Kennels and is trained by Alan Finn. Since the unit’s addition to the department, the team has been involved in many assists to other agencies including the Pennsylvania State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Officer Dubernas and Enzo are responsible for the seizure of many pounds of illegal drugs and many thousand of dollars and cash. Enzo has also tracked and captured several felling felons. Enzo was initially trained for patrol and narcotic detection and has recently started to train in tracking. Officer Dubernas and Enzo also participate in many public relations events and demonstrations throughout the year. The team also competes in police K-9 trials. |
Chief Semenza began his career with the Old Forge Police Department in January of 1986. He started out as a part time police officer. The Chief was promoted to Sergeant in 1996 and then to Chief of Police if 2005. Chief Semenza is certified in many areas of law enforcement, including a certified firearms instructor, certified Simunition instructor, certified patrol rifle instructor, certified police cyclist II, and others. The Chief has attended police management training courses including POSIT and POLEX. The Chief is a graduate of the 232nd Session on the FBI National Academy. The Chief spent many years serving on the Lackawanna County SWAT Team starting in 1989 until 2004. During that time he attended many specialized training relative to SWAT operations. The Chief is also a Pennsylvania State Fire Academy Instructor and teaches both at the local level and at the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy in Lewistown in their resident program. |
ABOUT OFPD
The Old Forge Police Department serves and protects the citizens in the Borough of Old Forge, Pennsylvania . Old Forge has a population of approximately 9.000 and is nestled comfortably in mountainous northeastern Pennsylvania . The borough is well situated between the major cities of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre and is officially known as “The Pizza Capital of the World”.
The Old Forge Police Department is under the daily supervision of Chief Lawrence A. Semenza. Chief is a (22) year veteran of the OFPD and is well versed in many aspects of law enforcement. Semenza is assisted by Captain Jamie Krenitsky who together supervise a compliment of (23) officers.
In addition to usual patrol duties, our officers are also involved in “Community Policing” including motorcycle and scooter patrols in our many housing developments. Foot patrol officers and bike officers can be seen during the summer months to better serve the driving and pedestrian public.
The Old Forge Police Department has established one of the best police K-9 programs in the area with Officer Jason Dubernas handling police K-9 Enzo.
The department also has several other specialized units within to handle emergencies that arise.
